Project Manager/Site Installation Manager

Job Description

ConveyX Corp. (CXC) is looking to add a versatile and dedicated Project Manager/Site Installation Manager (PM and SIM) to join their growing team.  Located in Northern Michigan, CXC is a package handling and conveyance integrator for some of the largest warehousing and distribution companies in the U.S. and Canada.  The right candidate will need to have a history of success being proactive and managing large scale projects while coordinating cross functional teams. Project Manager/Site Installation Manager will be required to travel to job sites performing duties such as site visits and running projects.  The list of competencies and requirements below is indicative but not all inclusive of the talent we are seeking.

Proposal development with experience in the following areas

  • Identifying teams of internal resources
  • Work within a team to develop proposals for projects requested by customer
    • Gantt Charts (scheduling)
    • Scheduling and hosting meetings
    • Assisting Sales/Estimating to identify vendors

Overall Project Management

  • Responsible to PM multiple projects at the same time
  • Responsible to PM and SIM a project at the same time
  • Attend project meetings with customers (virtual and in-person)
  • Keep project notes:
    • Identify scope changes
    • Identify challenges and risks to the project
  • Secure resources and manage schedule changes across multiple sites.
  • Ensure all necessary resources are informed about project status.
  • Coordinate with ConveyX Site Installation Managers to coordinate shipping\receiving, identify onsite Point of Contact(s) (POC), field questions and direct accordingly.
  • Responsible for submitting required documentation and drawings.
  • Responsible for overall budget of projects and filling out budget throughout a project.

Vendor Relations

  • Review project needs of the vendors to ensure they can work efficiently
  • Assist Vendor Installation Manager vet potential vendors
  • Negotiate and review quotes and invoices
  • Evaluate vendor performance

Facilitate Permitting and Inspections

  • Work with Vendor Coordinator to schedule inspections and update permitting status

Post Installation duties and quality control

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, within budget, and has maintained the highest installation quality standards
  • Facilitate equipment pre-commissioning tests
  • Commission equipment
    • Quality, safety, and operational tests
  • Ensure there is a smooth transition of the MHE system to the customer
    • Provide training(s) to the personnel using and maintaining the conveyor
  • Produce end of installation reports

Vendor and Customer Relations

  • Primary communicator between ConveyX and Customer
  • Understand customer requirements for project installations
  • Manage Security and Safety documentation
  • Understand customer needs and requests
  • Discuss changes with team to identify options for a solution
  • Evaluate vendor performance
  • Track change order information

Requirements

  • Strong business ethics
  • Must be proactive, self-motivated, creative, and possess superior communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Understand budgeting and marketing impacts on project success
  • Must be a team player and be comfortable working on multiple teams and projects at the same time
  • Must have a passion for solving complex challenges with innovative solutions
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools
  • Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Able to read and understand plan drawings
  • Able to lead a team to complete a task
  • Travel within the U.S. and Canada – 50% travel (Approximately)

Experience level:

  • 3 years preferred

Experience:

  • Project Management: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Vendor Management: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Customer relationship management: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Blueprint reading: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Conveyor installation: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • PMP (Preferred)

Willingness to travel:

  • 50% (Approximately)
